Bases are an informal space, each with their own style and format. They usually include worship and a short teaching session, and might also have arts and crafts, games and other activities. Bases are usually hosted by two Missional Communities/ Missional Households joining together, and is a great opportunity to experience church and get to know God in a relaxed setting.
Some Bases gather each month throughout the year and others currently gather during the Spring and Summer months.
At Kirkby Base we engage with our local community through two main activities. Our area, like many others, suffers with litter so we help organise a community litter pick with support from our local council. Litter picking helps us to build bridges with people in the community and helps to serve our community. We are also involved in community chaplaincy where we join with other Christians to offer a listening ear and encouragement. We see too many isolated and lonely people and believe that Jesus would reach out with hope and compassion.
We try and strike a balance of encouragement, prayer, worship and Bible understanding when we meet together. We fully believe that Jesus is the answer to the many problems that face our communities and we choose to partner with the Holy Spirit to be agents of change.

Great Sankey Base gathering consists of members of GRACE and Fairhaven missional communities. We meet at King’s Community Centre on Marina Avenue at 10.30am for an hour or so. Our time together involves refreshments and an informal get together, before joining in hearing God’s word and sung worship by various folk. There are times when we go out into the local area distributing blessings cards as we prayer walking for our neighbours around the centre. As it’s an informal meeting, we also find people can easily share their testimony with each other too. Look out for when our Base meets and you’ll find a welcome and an encouraging chat.
Bewsey Base meets monthly at the Community Hub right in the centre of Bewsey during the spring and summer months. It is a gathering of two of our missional communities, Rooted and Arise, along with friends and neighbours from the local area.
We enjoy a time of craft, gardening or a simple activity that reminds us of God’s love and share conversation and refreshments. It’s a great time to build relationships and share the good news about Jesus with both those passing by and in some more longstanding connections.
